Focus Nordic today has the pleasure to announce that Samyang is launching a whole new series of lenses with autofocus, the Samyang EF Series, specially designed for Canon EOS cameras. The first member is the ultra-wide angle lens Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 EF. With its extreme angle of view, large aperture and weatherproof construction, the lens is perfect for sports, landscape and astrophotography while its lightweight and compact format also makes it easy to carry on a journey.
Autofocus and electronic aperture
The Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 EF is designed to be compatible with full-frame sensors and gives an impressive 116.6 degree angle of view. But it can also be used on a Canon DSLR camera with APS-C sensor where it becomes equivalent to a 22.4mm lens (92.8 degree angle of view).

The built-in motor provides fast, quiet and accurate focusing while an electrically controlled aperture makes the lens compatible with all exposure and light metering modes the camera can offer. If you prefer to focus manually, the lens has an easily accessible AF / MF switch and a wide, comfortable to use focus ring. The short minimum focus, only 20 cm, makes it possible to capture close-ups of details and also show a lot of the surrounding environment in the pictures.
Enhanced optics
Samyang’s manually focused 14mm is appreciated for its high sharpness and low chromatic aberration, but the new Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 EF takes the optical quality to a new level. The construction consists of 15 elements arranged in 10 groups. Among these are 2 aspherical elements that ensure low distortion as well as maximum contrast and sharpness across the entire image plane even at large apertures. 4 elements of HR glass (High Refractive) and 1 element of ED glass (Extra Low Dispersion) counteract coma and color bleeding.
Furthermore, Samyang’s advanced Ultra Multilayer Coating (UMC) is used to prevent the occurrence of reflections, stray light and ghosting, particularly important on a lens with such a large angle of view. Point light sources are reproduced as beautiful sun stars thanks to the 7 blade aperture. Finally, weather seals in the form of rubber gaskets protect the sensitive inside from moisture and dust.
