What should an excited amateur know about purchasing their first DSLR and lenses?

That he/she is in the beginning of long and very expensive journey. Purchasing photography gear is highly addictive. First, you buy into platform – Canon/Nikon/mirrorless. Then you buy lenses, then you convince yourself that you need better and more lenses. Than you understand that you have to change the platform. Next cycle.
